Description
540-550: Orestes is interpreting Clytemnestra’s dream, saying the snake is a symbol of himself. This illustrates the act of vengeance. Clytemnestra’s maids and daughter were sent to Agamemnon’s grave so Clytemnestra believes she won’t have to face retribution. These girls don’t have much sympathy for Clytemnestra; they are acting on her orders. Page 60-65: Orestes, Electra and the maids call upon the ghost of Agamemnon to seek revenge. Page 65: They are calling upon Agamemnon’s ghost to assist them and carry out vengeance. The mood of which the characters act: the turmoil Orestes faces because his father is dead and he must carry out vengeance. He still has some love for his mother. Conspiracy to kill Clytemnestra and Aegisthus: The nurse and maid servants are all in on this. To enchant the power out of the grave of Agamemnon & to arm themselves with anger to make them do
