Descartes: descartes, the first of revolutionary, believes that learning of the past can corrupt your mind. The knowledge he wants needs to have certain characteristics (for active learning): must possess certainty must be universally accepted, must be indubitable. Once you achieve knowledge, you cannot overthrow it. Already exist a discipline with these features aka mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry. Learning generally must emulate what occurs in arithmetic and geometry. To succeed, we must understand the success of mathematics. It has never been in the book about how they achieve their method. The book descartes worked isa called the rules of direction of the understanding . The regulae: 1st 4th learning generally, 5th 12th how to adapt. Cognitive faculties make mathematics succeed: intuition | deduction. Light of reason = mind focus on ideas. Intuition requires 2 relata (latin word for related) always. And, it only works if there is two relata. Point of intuition is the connection between the relata.
