HUMA 1625 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Labyrinths, Utopia, Kublai Khan
Document Summary
In this portfolio entry i will be using the critical thinking skill of developing questioning strategies and generating ideas for consideration and or discussion. To aid me in demonstrating the themes of utopias and labyrinths, i will be analyzing excerpts from cities and memories 3 and from the art of the maze, with excerpts from cities and desires 4. Many would describe it as a community, society, or place that has in its entirety has perfect, or almost perfect qualities and traits. This idea of utopia is going to differ from individual to individual, depending on their idea of what perfection looks and feels like. In every instance, the utopia is seen as a solution to a current state of dystopia. Labyrinths are most extensively discussed in the art of the maze, and is a way in which those seeking to create a utopia from a dystopia must first embark through.
