Retronym: a word or phrase created because an existing term, which used to be used alone, needs to be distinguished by a new term or variation, ex: guitar" was only guitar, not electric/acoustic guitar. Alternative fantasy: those fantasies different from, outside of, excluded by or silenced by dominant. Lewis carroll: was in his 30"s as a mathematician during the time he wrote alice"s adventures in. It was deemed to be improper for a single man and single woman to be accompanying each other unless married people suspected that lewis and the governess were doing so. Critical skills: understanding a story in the context of when it was created, and who created it. Also avoids doing a backwards comparison to our current culture which often leads to misreading of text and misinterpretation due to ignorance and oblivion: the suspension or reservation of judgment basically preventing readers from making untrue assumptions.
