Dystopia is a subsection of sci fi sci fi focuses on not only the future but also the present it is also often a utopia gone wrong, good intentions gone wrong. Privacy doesn"t exist, and the govt controls everything. We would find these things uncomfortable in our society. Utopia turns into dystopia when there is a rise in control, and a decrease in freedom. Ex 2: patriot act: suspected for being a terrorist, gov has more control over what they can do. Handmaid"s tale: the handmaids would rat them out, and then be the ones to kill them affirmative action. Normally high levels of surveillance in a dystopian society. Rely on propaganda, the mottos and announcements on the loud speaker. Handmaid"s tale is a theocracy ( state & church together)
