Such operating categories are like, marketing, personal relations and finance. There is the tendency of putting each functional department under the functional leadership of specialists who make decisions in regard to the function of the operation department. (tina, 2016) Functional organizations are characterized by a complex form of administrative organization where there are rules and regulations governing each operation department. It is characterized by three kinds of authorities which are the line authority, staff authority and functional authority. Functional organizations work through the division of labor system which helps them be able to specialize and hence make much quality productions. Since the functional organization is based on limited number of operations, it is able to produce effective results which form part of its strengths.
