Document Summary

Kine 1020 january 20th, 2017 metabolism (finish) + muscle fatigue. Using oxygen to phosphorylate adp back to atp. Glucose makes 2atp but also makes 2nadh: nadh is an electron carrier because electrons are what power oxidative phosphorylation. Nadh is made when: pyruvate acetyl co-a, acytyl co-a spins the krebs cycle (nadh + fadh2 is made) With oxidative phosphorylation you get 16x more atp than if you just used glycolysis. 1 pyruvate : 1 acetyl co-a : 1 spin of krebs: but since glucose gives 2 pyruvates it spins twice, so 3 nadh 6 nadh, 1 fadh 2 fadh. Etc is in the membrane of mitochondria: complex 1, complex 2, complex 3 and 4 and atp synthase which makes adp. Etc is not fast enough to support high intensity work outs. Enzymes move faster in athletes: you get more enzymes, they get better at turning them on. H+ combine with o2 to form h2o.
