Document Summary

Platelets (play a role in blood clotting responses), very tiny cells. The spleen has blood filled area that they congregate in. When you had an injury, your sympathetic nervous system is triggered, sends out signal to spleen to help with the injury. *megakaryocytes produces the platelets that help in blood clotting. Thrombopoietin hormone produced by liver increases megakaryocytes production in bm, increases platelet production. The more megakaryocytes, the more platelets we get. Once we produce enough platelets, the signal decreases so we don"t have a lot of platelets. Some fluids, the watery parts with small dissolved electrolytes/gasses, can be pushed out (some osmosis of fluid), but the cellular portion should never leave (like proteins, globulins, etc. ) Therefore, when a vessel becomes damaged, and blood leaks out, then we"re not connecting the circuit anymore (to oxygenate or deliver nutrients to the rest) also, the blood volume. We need a way to detect and repair any damage to the circulatory system.
