Lecture 13
- Face Injuries
o Jaw/Mouth/Tooth Injury
▪ Fractures or soft tissue injury
• Unable to open jaw, teeth don’t align, pain by
ears
▪ Tooth fracture or avulsion
• Handle by crown (keeping integrity of the
root), rinse and keep moist, and transport
with patient
o Cheek Injuries
▪ Fracture of soft tissue
• Only place to remove an impaled object
o Nose and Ear Injuries
▪ Nasal Fracture- be aware that it may effect airway
▪ Epistaxis (nose bleed)
• Compression and keep head forward and
down to prevent airway blockage from the
blood
▪ Ear laceration or Avulsion
• Place dressing between ear and side of head
to maintain integrity
o Eye Injuries
▪ Globe, cornea, orbital fx ect
