KINE 4010 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Apoptosis, Adipose Tissue, Vo2 Max
Document Summary
The way to express vo2 max is not in l/min the units that are better are units of lo2/min. so what we will do is convert those to millilitres of o2 per kilogram of body weight per minute. So we have to change l to ml so multiply by 1000 and divide that # by the kg of body weight. This is the way to compare people accurately is to do it pound for pound or kg to kg. So for williams we have 4000 that is her vo2 max and ml/of2/min and we will divide that by her body weight which is 160 lbs but we use the 73 kg instead: In the other hand if we do bouchard its 3000 mils/min and we will divide that by her body weight which is 50 kg. So clearly you can see bouchard has a higher value than williams and more fit.
