KINE 4420 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Negative-Feedback Amplifier, Cerebral Cortex, Pain Scale
Document Summary
Di erent parts of the brain responsible for attention: bottom up mind is faster, involuntary, automatic. intuitive parallel processing. Being able to stay focused on something: it is one of the most important determinants of success in life. Attention disregulation: can hijack connections when it spots important cues. It can grab our attention: by improving your left prefrontal focus, that will calm the right prefrontal cortex and let you be able to stay focused for longer. Keep doing this while counting down by 5, giving a clear message to your brain of what you want to occur. In less than 3 minutes the whole system will be relaxed: you can do the same thing with a pain scale. Allowing it to ow will let it go mirror neurons in your brain allow you to empathize by others by mimicking their facial expressions.
