KINE 2031 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Epithelium, Transitional Epithelium, Fallopian Tube
Document Summary
The anatomical position is the standard position that lets us reference the body parts, knowing where everything is. Inferior: towards the feet medial: closer to the mid line of the body lateral: further from the midline of the body. Proximal: closer to the main trunk of the body. Your elbow is proximal to your wrist, which your wrist is distal to your body distal: further away from the main trunk of the body. 3 cardinal planes in the body: median/mid saggital plane divides the body into left and right, transverse divides it into top and bottom, coronal divides it into front and back. If something is super cial it is toward the outside, intermediate is towards the middle, and deep is far inside the body. 4 types: epithelial, connective, muscle, and nerve: tissues are cells that come together to perform similar function. Epithelial: physical barrier (skin), that prevents chemicals and mechanical damage.
