Systemic anatomy approaches studies a complete system in the body. Gross anatomy investigates anatomical structures that are visible with the unaided eye: regional anatomy views in depth each regional system in the body (head, eye etc. ) Microscopic anatomy investigates anatomical system under microscope or with aid of technology. Anatomical positions standardized position that offer common points of reference when describing structures and movements. Eg, individual standing erect, faces and eyes directed forward etc. Towards head or above eg. nose is superior to mouth. Towards feet or below eg. knees are inferior to hip. Towards midline (relative to middle of body not half) you"re 5th digit is most medial digit when hands placed in anatomical position. Closer to trunk eg. knees is proximal to your ankle - describe relative position of structures of the upper/lower extremities. Further from trunk eg. your ankle is distal to your knee - describe relative position of structures of the upper/lower extremities.
