Split into two separate categories:
i. Gross Anatomy – investigates anatomical structures that are visible with the unaided eye
a. Systemic Anatomy – approaches studies a complete system in the body
b. Regional Anatomy – views in depth each regional system in the body (head, eye etc.)
ii. Microscopic Anatomy – investigates anatomical system under microscope or with aid of
Anatomical positions – standardized position that offer common points of reference when describing
structures and movements.
Eg, individual standing erect, faces and eyes directed forward etc.
Anterior/Frontal Towards the front
Posterior/Dorsal Towards the back
Superior/Cranial Towards head or above eg. Nose is superior to mouth
Inferior/Caudal Towards feet or below eg. Knees are inferior to hip
