Psych – March 3 ­Neurotic Disorders: 1) Anxiety disorders a) generalized anxiety b) phobias c) panic disorder + agoraphobia  ­agoraphobia is more a complication of panic attacks; different from  regular phobias  d) obsessive compulsive disorder  ­obsession – recurrent thoughts or images that involuntarily intrude  ­­­compulsion – ritualistic behaviour that people feel compelled to do  2) Somatoform disorders **short answer** ­fall somewhere between psychological and medical disorders and refer to physical  symptoms that have no physiological basis (not to be confused with psychosomatic  disorders)  a) conversion disorder (hysteria) – individuals will suddenly lose function of a  body part  b) hypochondriac  3) Dissociation  a) dissociative fugue  b) dissociation identity disorder (multi­personality disorder) 4) Mood disorders: a) major depressive disorder b) bipolar disorder (manic depressive) ­SAD – Seasonal affective disorder  ▯cyclothnia  5) s
