Example from slides: 68% of scores fall within range of 12-16 for 14+/-2: subtracting two from mean and adding two to mean. Rule of thumb: - if mean and median differ by 1 sd or more then use median. With extreme scores, mean is not good interpretation of central tendency. Audit example: half of us fall above, half of us fall below.
