Biostratigraphy: study of fossils found in the strata. If dinosaurs die on the land, their body decomposes and or consumed by predators. Therefore, finding dinosaur fossils on land has low likelihood. Dinosaur dying in river or close to a river bed, or ocean close to land. Near river bed the fossils get covered with silk and sand beginning of fossilization process. In river, over periods of times the carcass is covered with more mineral and sediments near sandbags. End result of fossilization, the fossil becomes rock 6type, even the bones in fossilized dinosaurs are rock. Pattern of rock can allow scientists to find the latitude of where the rock was formed. Rocks magnetism signature proved that australia was located near the equator 650 million years ago. Most ice ages are triggered by the earths orbit around the sun.
