Degranulation of many mast cells at once causes the release of large amounts of histamine and inflammatory mediators. Can result in acute anaphylaxis or anaphylatic shock. Can be countereacted (temporarily) with injections of epinephrine. Epinephrine neutralizes many of the mechanisms of anaphylaxis. Relax smooth muscle and reduce vascular permeability. Gives some time to get 1mergency medical help. Asthma treated with an inhalant containing corticosteroid and bronchodilator. 1mmunotherapy :desentization (induce igg instead of ige) Skin test - expose skin to drop of possible allergen. Form of treatment to reduce the allergic reactions. Consists of a series of injections with a solution containing the allergens that cause the allergic symptoms. The cleanliness of developed cities weakens immunity and increases the risk of developing an allergy. There is a lower incidence of allergy in those living on farms or rural areas. More exposure to bacteria and other antigens. Pet ownership reduces the prevalence of allergy in kids.
