Document Summary

Nats 1675 lecture #15 protein synthesis / genetic engineering. It is made up out of nucleotides (which are building blocks ) Rna is single-stranded and dna is double-stranded. There are 3 types of rna: mrna (messenger ribonucleic acid) It comes out from the nucleus into the cytoplasm and finds a free ribosome. The information is transcripted because the nucleotide is a language. [transcription is the language of nucleotides: r-rna (ribosomal ribonucleic acid) It is made in the dark spot in the nucleus called the nucleolus . Workstations where proteins are made/found in cytoplasm: t-rna (transfer ribonucleic acid) Different trnas can only pick up specific amino acids (one trna per type of amino acid). They are large molecules consisting of amino acids. They are an important part of the structure of the body [skin, body, hair, muscle, etc] as well as being important in the growth and repair of the body.
