United parcel services, now allows user to track their packages. In the first stage computers were used for all tasks but that did not increase productivity. 2nd stage when computers started to implement new processors was when productivity increased. All in all computers shouldn"t be used to do things faster but instead to do things which haven"t been done before. Computers are becoming a communication machine: started as number crunching machines and ended up as communication machines to draft documents, send messages and all in all keep in touch. Computers began with a small network named arpanet . Computers role in business: information technology (it: helps with business decisions, allows instant information online, helps with budgets, marketing forecast"s, statistic, graphs etc, communication with employees. Information system: has always existed, set of interrelated component"s, components which collect and store information, supports an organization in their decision making and control.
