Document Summary
Sun, star: rises in east crosses meridian at highest point set in west. On equinox- sun rises and sets directly east-- west. The path that the sun travels through the sky is called the ecliptic . All of the planets and moon also travel along ecliptic (or very close to it) in sky. We know today that the ecliptic is the plane in which earth orbits the sun. The earth"s spin axis is tilted by 23. 3 to the ecliptic. N-pole tilted towards sun-- summer in n-henisplane- path of sun higher, length of day longer. N-pole tilted away from the sun winter in n-henisplane path of sun lower, length of day shorter. Above earth-- atmosphere ended, sky held by 4 supports (pole, mountains) Beneath earth-- underworld (duat), duat contained everything absent from visible world. Stars and planets when they were not visible. Sun through to travel underground at night and re-appear (or be re-born) in east next morning.
