NATS 1500 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: The Intercept, Negative Number, Physical Law
Document Summary
Y is unspoken as ye-hat and it is also referred to as either predicted y or estimated y b0 s the intercept of the straight line. The intercept is the value of y when x = 0 b1 is the slope of the straight line. The slope tells us how much of an increase (or decease) there is for the y variable when the x variable increases by one unit. The sign pf the slope tells us whether y increases or decreases when x increases. Once you"ve got two points on a line, you can take a ruler and draw it out. If 0 for x is in the picture, the units for y don"t have the same unit size for x. If 0 is not in the picture (plot), you chose two values of x that are found on the plot.
