Document Summary

3 disinct events of cell division: replicaion, mitosis, cytokinesis: division of cytoplasm. Centrosomes: located at the poles and released spindles: centrioles are located in the middle of the centrosome. Spindles formed from microtubules: polymers of tubulin proteins. Diferent set of microtubules: astral- posiion spindle in cell, polar separate two poles, kinetochore; atached to the centromere of each chromosomes. Interphase (g1, s, g2: ater s phase, each chromosome is duplicated and consists of two sister chromaids. M-phase: prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. Centrosomes move apart and mitoic spindle begins to form. Kinetochores: atach to microtubules to form kinetochore microtubules. Metaphase: chromosomes are posiioned into an equatorial plate halfway between poles. Sister chromaids separate and move to opposite poles. Kinetochore movement: motor proteins are located on the kinetochore, and also at the spindle microtubules, motor proteins walks along the microtubules and move the kinetochore of the chromosome in the direcion its walking, chromosomes move towards the pole.
