Geneic variaion: sex: can introduce new gene combinaions into a populaion, gene flow: movement of genes from one populaion to another, mutaions: change in the dna creaing new version of genes. Evoluionary change is based on the accumulaion of mutaions. Asexual reproducion: one parent gives rise to another ofspring: all parents gene is passed on to its ofspring, ofspring is geneically idenical. Sexual reproducion: two parents give rise to ofspring: only half of each parents geneic informaion is passed on to their ofspring, genes from both parents are mixed, ofspring are geneically diverse . There"s an evoluionary advantage for sex: the diversity it creates ofers a beter chance for a populaion to survive changes in the environment. Ferilizaion union of sperm and egg forms a zygote: zygote undergoes mitosis to form mulicellular embryo, embryo develops into adult, adult forms gametescycle repeats.
