Nats 1780 a lab: h2o in earth s atmosphere. Place the pot on your stove, and cover it with a glass lid: heat the pot from below using the highest heat setting available. Continue heating the pot until the ice melts, and the water boils. Note: you may perform physical experiments to inform your gedanken experiment. Use a sketch to capture your answers from questions 1, 2 and 4. Then, fill in the gaps: water, ice and steam (aka. water vapour) are the familiar terms we use to describe h2o in each of its three states. Connect water, ice and steam with its state (solid, liquid or gas): assume a constant pressure of 1 atm. Take the temperatures from questions 1, 2 and 4, and place them on the graph below. Share what you needed to know in order to make this placement: most automobile engines are cooled by pressurized water.
