Philosopher: robert nozick (cont"d: can a human life be intrinsically meaningful, nozick rejects the idea of seeking an intrinsically meaningful life. Lucretius a roman poet who wrote a book in 400 b. c. So after you die, when there is no more you, you will not exist! So nothing will bother you in the future as the situation will be the same. Another point he makes is that we cannot experience non existence. Therefore, it is irrational to fear something you cannot possibly experience. It is rational to fear cancer because it can happen to you, but it"s irrational to fear non. The state of death is a state of non existence: but why do people fear death, nozick says that people fear the past as fixed and done. We fear of being gone without any traces left because that makes us feel small: people have children for the same reason.
