Document Summary
Virtue theory cannot accommodate a theory of rights: abortion distinction between moral and political rights, virtue theory cannot make this distinction because morality is based solely on the character of the person. Ve gives priority to people"s moral character or their disposition to act, not: every act is working towards eudaimonia because it"s what all. Eudaimonia is the ultimate and intrinsic end the act themselves: not rule-following humans what in life, activity of the soul in accordance with excellence/virtue. When our rationality overrides our appetitive and desiring part of our soul, we are acting morally virtuously. Want to develop phronesis: this happens when there is harmony between appetitive and desiring and the rational portion, our emotions align with our reason. Actions must be done for its own sake (but recall that all actions are done for the sake of eudaimonia)
