Wood believes that the way people use a term you can go somehow beneath that to find out its real meaning: why assume hard sciecen tells us the actual reference of things. Fixes meaning relative to the person: namely prescription and control. Concepts have essences independent of linguistic usage. For marx- justice is tied to modes of production. But essences are fixed by hard science. Morality is based on certain attitudes and feelings: some chunks of morality will be undermined, indignation and blame are based on these irrational beliefs. If you understood resentment,indignation and guild- these feelings are so integral to morality these would undermine most of you moral commitments. Freud made us see ourselves as impure: no pure good will. Should be in pursuit of truth everything else is ideology. Epistemic interest and non empistemic interest are not always at battle. Increase pragmatic and political means but now based on truth.
