The existing polis were admired because of their political stability. These poleis managed to survive the political turmoil of the ancient greek world. He also wants to investigate the polis that are put up by theorists like plato"s republic. Aristotle seems to be a poor student of plato. His existing criticism seems not to understand even the basic structures of the republic. He pulls out things that seem obvious.
