Will refer to the polis instead of city state. The polis is not a state, does not have a state. Allow the athenians to interact with other civilizations. Constant influx of people from all around the mediterranean allows athens to become a hub of information. Keen sense of measure and balance regarding politics. Term politics comes from the greek term polis.
