Natives in canada - stages of native-newcomer relations. Canada has refused to recognize the natives: many natives on reserves suffer from third-world conditions, more likely to suffer from health and mental issues. Canada began its history as a colonial country: for natives, there were thousands of different tribes with very different languages, cultures, and traditions - multiple histories, nations are defined as a geographical location and national identity. The culture of canada is made up of two founding nations: english and french: no mention of natives - they were written out of constitutional history. Also forms of genocide: they take over the sites, locations, and the sense of who a canadian/american is. It"s defined on that settlement basis - white settlement basis. It becomes dominate of the nations that are created: ex; in australia, the majority of the population is white, and they became the dominant population - a melding. Different from mexico where there was a product of integration.
