With war being such a constant phenomenon, we saw that for centuries there have been. Its been a constant phenomenon through much of our history. It is a way of resolving disputes, politics by other means plenty of discussions about the ethics of war. The realist tradition, the pacifist tradition and the just war tradition. The realist tradition and the pacifist tradition sit on either ends of a spectrum and opposite extremes of the theoretical spectrum. The just war theory occupies the middle, it isn"t directly in the middle, it depends on what the circumstances are. Sometimes it is closer to the realist position, sometimes it is closer to the pacifist position. The circumstances will dictate what the just war tradition will tell you, this is unlike the two extremes.
