Module 3: research strategies: how psychologists ask questions. If data doesn"t fit our ideas, we have to modify our ideas and test again. The brain can recover from massive early childhood brain damage. Our brains do not have accurate memories locked inside video files. There is no hidden and used 90% of the brain. The next final step in the scientific method: replication. Replicating: research means trying it again using the same operational definitions of the concepts and procedures- difficult to do because there is no money in replication where critical thinking comes into play. You could introduce a small change in the study e. g trying the adhd/sugar test on college students instead of elementary students. Low self esteem and depression: people with low self esteem will score higher on a depressions scale, administer tests of self esteem and depression see if it scores on one predicts a high score on the other.
