Document Summary

Positive reinforcement: adding something pleasant to a situation (and how did it affect the response) If stimulus is pleasant, it is positive reinforcement and unpleasant is negative. Negative reinforcement: taking away something pleasant from a situation (and how it affects response) Getting end desired response is too difficult. Eg: easier for a dog to just give you their paw rather than doing something that is too difficult. When a response in a stimulus is reinforced and a response also occurs to a new stimulus. Eg: baby smiles at dad every time he walks into the room because the dad makes it laugh > if the baby sees a stranger that looks like the dad, it will smile with anticipation of getting rewarded.
