Chapters 1,2,3,4 and appendix a (math quiz from beginning) Central tendency: central point of distribution, representative of the entire population. Variability: describes how the sores are scattered around the central point, describes the distribution, measures how well an individual score (group of scores) represents the entire distribution, important in inferential statistics. They both are two primary values that are sued to describe a distribution of scores. Measures the degree to which the scores are spread out or clustered together in a distribution. Most heights cluster within 5 or 6 inches from the mean (extremes are rare) Weight is not so tightly clustered there is more variability low variability is good, high variability is bad. Provides a measure of accurate any individual score.
