Ordinal: rank, satisfaction, theres an order, but distance between is not equal, can be given as frequencies, some say you cannot calculate means for ordinal data. Interval ratio/scale/quantitative: can be measure , ie. weight. Social competence; how often do they spend time with others, do they approach people in kind and polite fashion ect. Look into your articles with terminology we use in class ie. independent variables, dependent variables . In current psychology, there is an emphasis on experimental research. Role of experiments in gathering evidence: experiment : a study where anindependent variable (iv) is manipulate. Researcher chooses which rats to turn into alcoholics and the other one doesn"t. If someone has two groups, one which schizophrenia and another without- this is not a true experiment, as the variables are not manipulate, do not make someone into schizophrenic.
