At the eye doctor you get visual acuity: color perception and depth perception, visual pattern and object perception, selective attention, methods, major area or time area is perception is the first year of life. Difference between the two: habituation, familiarize to criterion 50% decrease in looking, first stimulus presented at test, compare the test performance to pre test performance, novelty preference, present a set number of trials, 2 stimuli at test the novel and familiar, compare the test performance of each stimulus to each other. Visual scanning and eye movement: eye movement in which you get an image of an infants eye and shine inferal light on infants face (cant see) retina can process this light, then get a sharp point of light, this reflection is the light source, as the infants eye move it will hit different points of the pupil, how fast the infant looks.
