PSYC 2130 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: B. F. Skinner, Little Albert Experiment, Reinforcement
Document Summary
Humans have a long nesting period ie. the dependent period. Trait theorists: believed behavior as a sign. Learning psychology: not assigns but as samples of more general class of behaviours. Personality as accumulation of learned tendencies acquired through experience. Parsimony: the principle of simplicity, very few assumptions ie. forgetting someone"s name is because of the environment is not cued for you to remember their name (seeing them in a different situation) Behaviour is lawful, it is the product of forces outside of you and acting on you. Minimal inferences: avoid special processes you can"t see ie. mom"s attention has better reinforced attention therefore they are more attached. Individual records in bf skinner"s office, he developed general inferences. Pavlov demonstrated reflex could be controlled by a stimulus. Reflex=unconditioned response created by the conditioned stimulus is genetically programmed. Must have neutral and conditioned stimulus must occur at the same time and repetition. Temporal contiguity: stimulus" must occur close in time.
