You can"t do your job as a clinical psychologist without sufficient knowledge of personality testing. To provide expert formulations of another person"s character. Looking at the ones primarily used in clinical settings. Demonstrate best the issues in the field. There are a huge number of tests available to professionals that are used in different settings. There is a relationship between the type of personality assessment given to a patient and the theoretical orientation of the person giving the test (the psychologist) If you were looking to hire an air traffic controller you would want to make sure they were attentive; that aspect of a person"s character. You couldn"t have them daydreaming or planes will drop like flies. Nobody attempts to tap into independent thinking before selecting graduate students. But being able to create an independent piece of research is vital for masters and phd.
