Even those who do not identify with behaviourism are still interested in how an experience at one point has an influence on behaviour at another point later on. Cognitive psychologists are interested in basic behavioural processes involved in acquiring knowledge. All personality psychologists begin their study of personality by examining behaviour. Freudians listen to free association and dream reports, which are both behaviours. However, interested in this behaviour to the extent that it describes something else the unconscious. Behaviourist psychologists are interested in behaviour for its own sake; so observe behaviour as samples instead of signs (samples of more general behaviour) B. f. skinner said the best prediction of future behaviour is past behaviour. Whenever a behaviourist makes a statement about a covert process, it is always based on covert processes observed.
