PSYC 3260 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Copy Control
Document Summary
Useful if there is a limited number of possibilities. E. g. , locker combination vs. retracing steps to find lost item. Initial state: conditions at beginning of problem. Goals state: condition at the end of problem - what we want to achieve, the goal. Intermediate states: the various conditions that exist along pathways between the initial. Operators: permissible moves - what we can do to get from one state to another. Reduce the difference between initial state and goal state. The goal is to achieve your goal. Involves generating a goal and then sub-goals - subgoals break down the tasks into tasks that are more manageable. More focused technique compared to generate end task and more guidance in terms of choosing your solution. Makes you think about different components of the problem before working on the solution. Forces the problem solver to analyze aspects of the problem before starting to work on it and to generate a plan to solve it.
