A state of emotional and psychological well -being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life. Distress comes in when certain emotions outweigh others and have more value than others and so we suppress and as a result we end up with distress. Mental illness is many of various conditions characterized by impairment of an individual"s. The media"s portrayal of certain nations exaggerates what is actual fact. As psychologist we normal cognitive, emotional or behavioral functioning, and caused by social, psychological, biochemical, genetic or other factors, such as infection or head trauma. Also called emotional illness, mental disease and mental disorder. need to think with a critical mindset. The word normal takes on many meanings in different societies. Gender is a critical determinant of mental health and mental illness. The morbidity associated with mental illness has received substantially more attention.
