Document Summary

Far more similarities in personalities than any other comparison. With respect to men and women, however there are some small differences. We now know that men can be nurturing and women can be aggressive as compared to back then (the ideology) Some factors : gender differences are largest when behavior is measured in terms of self-report: self reports are confidential and anonymous and people tend to respond in a way that society expects them to social desirability. Women are more likely to give themselves higher score on nurturance and men for aggressive. Surveys have very large differences for both genders: gender diff are largest when other ppl are present. It would be imp to distinguish men from women: gender diff are largest when behavior requires specific gender-related skills. Eg women changing diapers and men changing tires prof thinks its a bad example but still gets used. These are confounds that can bring in differences.
