Meeting a new client: start with new client by introducing yourself and perhaps a bit about yourself and your training/credentials. Client may have questions regarding your training, which should be answered openly without question. Differences within a group are always bigger than differences between groups of people. This must happen before any personal information is shared by the client. Families, parents, and couples are messier than working with an individual when it comes to confidentiality. It is important to explain that what the child might say in an individual therapy session will not be shared with a parent, regardless of the (cid:272)hild"s age.
