Lecture #5: first half of lecture watching film [tough guise 2: violence, manhood and. Majority of mass murders are men always questioned is mental health, religion, et cetera but never masculinity. There is a systematic failure to view men as men. When females are involved with violence, there"s no stopping the discussion against gender. Men"s masculinity is never questioned, despite any questions. Dominant ideologies work linguistically to protect the dominant (men). Dominant groups keep themselves from being questioned by remaining invisible. There are few biological factors that explain men"s violence and aggressiveness. Both media and gun corporations are protecting and enforcing guns. Men are taught to hide there soft exterior under a tough exterior. It"s taught to be masculine through media, parents, friends, school, etc. There is a sexist homophobic culture that encourages males to be aggressive, violent and always try to gain masculine credibility.
