Method to get people to do work in the most efficient way possible. Main task is to figure out the best way of doing work. Managers use a stopwatch and time workers over and over again to achieve main goal of the planning department. Taking the brain work from the hands of workers and putting it into the hands of managers. Reward workers who work harder, longer and faster than slow and lazy workers. Managementin 1911 book synthesizes work he began in 1860s. Taylor believed that scientific laws which govern natural world should be applied to workplace claimed that workers would be more productive if the same scientific axioms used for machines were applied to activities of labor.
