Jeremy bentham- every individual seels to gain pleasure and avoid pain. Nobel laureate herbert simon- limited rationality real people only keep in mind a few specific goals when making a decision , don"t think of everything. Cornish and clarke- offenders not much different in their decision making from everybody else , maximize their benefits, minimize their risk and limit own difficulties. Most crimes do not have planning = do not act with great care, availability. Offendes suffer more from the consequences of their own lifestyles than from the actions of publc officials. Offenders more afraid of one another than police or prosecutirs. Crimes are in response to cues given =highly situational options shift. Questionaire- assumption that those answering would agree that such behaviour is concerned deviant. Gang activity conveyed as colour filled map with geographical locations. Ethnographic studies participant and non participant. Surveys good for capturing frequency but not good at describing a lifestyle.
