1926-1984: sociology is the study of social institutions and the relations between the structures and the individuals, we are shifting gears into post structuralism. For durkheim the structure is constituted by the division of labour and the solidarity. Frankfurt school did critique this and the ps critiques science and technology and they argue that science is not truth. Science is truth is the modernist thinking for instance the development of science in the 17th century they defined what is called racism and race in today"s thinking and they measure the body structures of different races. They came to the conclusion that white is the superior but this was totally debunked in the second half of the 20th century: decentering of the subject: almost every researcher they now study the decentering of the subject.
