Experiences that bring us to the edge of the nomos and even anomy. Examples are: dreams, death, world view altering event, altered states of consciousness, economic crisis, immigration or migration. One of the threats of modernity is that people fall into anomie. Anomie for durkheim is frustration and lack of moral guidance. The nomos has to offer explanations for question, this leaves a tear in the nomos. Legitimations are formulas that fix the tears in the nomos. Example is religion, which justifies a nomos for operating the way it does. The world is a reflection of gods world. By going against the rules of society a person forces them selves into darkness. Cosmization is the most important thing to keep the human constructed nomos intact. The human world is a reflection of the sacred cosmos. Patriarchy, the role of the father is given sacred dominance over others in the family.
