Normative gender sex: males are masculine and females are feminine. Example: clothing from stores display male and female clothing rather than masculine and feminine clothing. It is widely based on sex (being male or female) rather than gender. Gender is socially constructed way of being/ style or orientation to masculinity and femininity. Gender conformity are subject to power/ force it is hard to depart or ignore these teachings. A bit wearing a dress will have a harder time fitting in, there"s a higher tolerance for feminine masculinity. Expecting people to be gendered, the expectation is not innocent, it is grounded in a strict system. Social construction: 1966 book the social construction of reality . Social construction of reality is made not given/ and it always changing. It is the opposite of social construction as it is the idea of human nature/ truth of social phenomena. Emile durkheim would not start a social movement but karl marx did.
