Demand for domesic servants exceeded supply and the expectaion of exporing workers from. Young girls from england were brought to canada through various agencies and ended up as domesic servants: supply of maids did not meet demand. Finnish women entered industry during its transiional period when proporional importance of domesic service as major occupaion for women was declining. New opportuniies were enicing canadian women away from domesic service and resuling gap was parially illed by newly arrived immigrants.
